Cristina served as the judge for the 2008 Carve Magazine Raymond Carver Short Story Contest.

For her short story collection Come Together, Fall Apart, Cristina was named a finalist in the fiction category of the 2007 PEN Center USA Literary Awards competition.

Come Together, Fall Apart was a finalist for both the Jesse Jones Award for Best Work of Fiction and the Steven Turner Award for Best Work of First Fiction.

Latinostories.com included Cristina among its “2007 Top Ten ‘New’ Latino Authors to Watch (and Read).”  Check out the full list.
